Bachelor of Education or B.Ed course is specifically designed for individuals aiming to pursue a career in teaching or other similar sectors. To teach in Higher Primary and High Schools, students need to take a B.Ed course in India. Trained teachers are always in demand as a lot of new schools are opening. Candidates must have at least the minimum qualification in Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) to succeed in the teaching field.

Upon completing the B.Ed course, aspirants can pursue higher studies in this field, such as M.Ed (Master of Education) offered by several institutes of India. National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) is the organization responsible for monitoring study programs concerning the education sector in the country.

Duration & Eligibility

Duration:

Earlier the B.Ed course was one year long, but now it has been augmented to two years. Students can opt for a full-time B.Ed course or a distance learning B.Ed course as per their preferences.

Eligibility:

  • Aspirants must have pursued B.A, B.Com, B.Sc, or any other equivalent degree from any recognized University or College.
  • Must have completed graduation with a minimum aggregate of 50% marks.
  • Students can also take a B.Ed course after pursuing a Master’s degree.

Also, the education sector offers a good salary package. However, keep in mind that the salary packages may vary based on the post you are holding.

Eligible candidates can also start their own school if they have the funds and caliber to run it. You can withdraw from a small school and take financial help from banks to set up new schools.

It is unnecessary to take up a job right away; you can also go for a Master’s degree in this field. Those looking to pursue higher education can go for Master of Education (M.Ed), which is a postgraduate higher specialized course and can be taken after completing B.Ed. 

Aspirants can also go for a Ph.D. after the completion of their M.Ed.
